a little late

Just wanted to post a few pictures from out cool bike ride last week, yes the one through the forest in the middle of the city!

yep, it smelled like urine too! gross!!!

And of coarse, we rewarded ourselves with a nice WARM cup of tea...

well, hazelnut latte for E

On Sunday we hit up a place at the Marina for brunch... Yummy "chips" a.k.a. "french fries." And then explored the Swansea Museum:

Evolution of the bike!

I just don't know why they did't keep the tandem trike!?!?

Cheers!

a little taste of home

it's been another cold & rainy week in Swansea

therefore, it was a Starbucks kind of day.
the smells & environment brought us home!

so we stayed a while & studied

Before heading home to watch The Amazing Race & Harry Potter (:
we are determined to find some Harry Potter places when we visit London.
Does anyone know of any?

jumping out of our seats... literally.

Hi everyone!
We are attempting to be better at blogging.  D has been killing it! So I guess it's E's turn, tonight (day if you are not out of the country like us.. (; ) I am going to tell you about a little adventure to the theatre we had on Thursday. D convinced me to go see The Woman in Black. Now I haven't actually seen the movie so I can't do any sort of comparisons. But I can tell you one thing... it's quite frightening!

Going into the show I really didn't think they could make a play that scary. But let me tell you folks we were literally jumping out of our seats!! They had the actors coming out of the chairs in the audience and sound effects like you wouldn't believe. The most amazing part.. the whole play was put on by just two actors.... & a unforgiving lady ghost (aka the woman in black) dun dun dun!!

our cute friend Dorothee came along (:
I got extremely lucky & got to sit in between these two beauties.. they both moved in a little closer to me as the play got more & more intense! I didn't mind one bit. (;

Anyways, get excited for a post of beautiful pictures in the next couple days. We found yet another hidden treasure today in Swansea... an amazing bike path through the middle of the lush green farmlands & beautiful trees. Our exploring really does pay off!

Until then, cheers!

Cardiff

Before I jump into our day trip yesterday, E and I just want to say how fun "Jazz-Night" was on Monday. The coolest cafe/bar/coffee shop, we don't really know how to categorize it because it had the feeling of all three. The jazz band consisted of all men, well over 30 or 40, accept for the youngin keyboard player. They were a fun group and very talented.

On to Cardiff... Well, let us just show you in pictures:

 First - Cardiff Castle

A Cathedral in town and the Cardiff Market:

The Cardiff Museum

Yummy Italian Lunch:

E just can't decide which one!...
...But it came down to this one!
A little taste of home
Muffins for the ride home

Just stoked for the bus ride
So there you have folks! Cardiff is quite the "shopping" hub. Just FYI: Instead of "Shopping Mall," there is "Arcade."

Are you alright?

You are all probably wondering just that... "are we alright," since we haven't posted since last Tuesday! I know, we apologize; but the point of today's title is actually to announce another "instead of." Here is goes: Instead of "how are you?" they say "are you alright?" Now E and I know that when everyone asked us if we were alright on our first day here, as we wandered aimlessly around town,  they were actually just asking how we were doing; it wasn't because we looked completely distressed.

Last week, the weather was rubbish! The sun peaked out of the clouds on Valentine's Day - so everyone got a good dose of vitamin D for the "Love-ly" day ;) We admit - since we couldn't find a reservation at any restaurant around town for the life of us, we made a good shopping trip to TESCO (which lasted longer than planned... so we skipped out on class that day ;) Promise we won't make it a regular thing mom and dad), and made a delicious Valentine's Day dinner... Portobello Mushroom Pizza! Sara got herself some yummy drink and I, of coarse, had my trusty Diet Coke for out toast.

We finally hit the town with our German friend, Dorothee, on Friday night. Starting our pub experience at The Potter's Wheel, we got to sit down and chat for a bit while sipping yummy drinks. We then went over to Wind Street (pronounced "wine"). This is the place that is supposedly wicked crazy on Wednesday nights... cheap drinks for all students. Bars and Clubs are EVERYWHERE. It scares me to think about the Wednesday crowd after seeing the parties on just a Friday night. We went to a Beach-themed that Dorothee has been wanting to try. There was fun music - so loud that all three of us were glad to have done most of our talking at The Potter's Wheel - and a dance floor for all who dared. To make it even better, you could say that every individual in that bar had a good 5-10 years on our little trio. So we basically partied with the oldies on Friday, but it was fun!

This Sunday we finally made it to church - for D, so thanks E for coming with me. The six mile excursion there and back made our Sunday brunch very rewarding... however the sun was out and so there is nothing to complain about. E's crepes were delicious, and we both learned what a "Jacket-Potato" was when they served me my meal. To future tourist's to Swansea, visit The Crepe Vine, you won't regret it.

And just a few pics from the week:

Swansea City Centre Big Screen... "Watch Live Sports Here!"

And we just couldn't exclude capel "GOMER" ;)

Wind Street from the top

Swansea Castle, what a sight ;) (it's under renovation)
So on to a new week, and a good one at that. The Sara's adventured out to Mumbles this morning to run a coastal trail we came across a few weeks ago. What a sight. AWESOME views... literally. And the perfect weather made it that much better. We will be going back for a picnic; so although missing my camera today, the pictures will come in due time when we return for Sunday brunch. We have quite the week planned, so stay tuned!
