A Week of Success

Since last Sunday's adventure, E and I have had quite a week. Other than a rescheduled class completely interrupting our Monday afternoon, we have seen and visited some pretty spectacular places and done some really fun things:

After waking up to a beautiful sunny sky and pristine ocean view, we finally got Swansea City Library cards. Yeah we were pretty excited!

The Swansea Museum, which wasn't all
that great except we saw Hor's real live mummy.
It was actually kind of scary, but once E and
I find out why Swansea is so obsessed with Egyptology we will let you know. We are still both confused on why Egypt history keeps popping up everywhere ;). After which we stopped in a cafe for afternoon tea... Orange-Mango-Cinnamon tea at D'lish Cafe receives 5 stars!

The next day, we went on a long bike ride around Mumbles and into the Gower. With each adventure we get farther and farther around this incredible peninsula, the scenery taking our breath away every single time. We just wish that pictures could do it justice; unfortunately you all will just need to see for yourself one day:

I just couldn't get enough of this little old couple. They were so cool!

E is always so patient with all my picture taking!

Snack to enjoy the view!

Afternoon tea at The Front Room Cafe - Mandarin Orange Tea... 5 Stars

And finally a celebratory toast after a hard days bike ride.
The views were worth every single hill!

So, now we are headed in to the weekend - hopefully something fun in store! Until next time.

Drinks Anyone?... Ummmmmmmmmmmm

http://www.hotflick.net/flicks/2007_P.S._I_Love_You/007ILY_Jeffrey_Dean_Morgan_005.jpg

Yes! We met Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and he bought me a drink!.... yeah no, I actually don't drink, so that was only in my dream last night. And we aren't in Ireland. Unfortunately, that fantasy is still a work in progress folks ;) However, take a seat.. because I have a story to share; and you may just "fall off your chair it is so funny!" (quote from The Holiday ;) ) E and I almost fell over in the street after it happened. I apologize to those who've already heard it, it just deserved a blog post; and you'll know why. So here it goes:

So E and I go out Saturday right? We had listened to the Wales vs. Ireland Rugby game while cleaning at home, but we wanted to head out for the England vs. Scotland game; after all, it was the first day of the SixNations Rugby Tournament. We were on our way to a pub, one that I found while I was running earlier that week (which wasn't all that fun because most of the people were oldies... but still fun just to sit and watch the game). It was probably 15 minutes walk or so away if we didn't lose ourselves in the winding streets along the way. But that's not the story. Okay, so we are walking down the street, (and just keep "Denny" from Grey's Anatomy in mind... better yet, "William" in PS I Love You - how I like to think of him since that's my favorite chick flick!) So this biker rides by. He is like 30s or 40s, around like the age of the guy in the movie okay, or for those of you who are lost, the guy pictured in this post. So he is like not young, but not like growing gray hairs either. Well, we keep on walking and all of the sudden this biker rides up next to us and says,

Biker: "Can I buy you a drink sometime?"

..........................ummmmmmmmmm yeah! hahahahaha I looked at him and he was looking right at me! The same biker who had just passed. I was like,

 D: "Excuse me?"

Biker: "Can I buy you a drink sometime?"

D: "Me?"

Biker: "Yeah, can I buy you a drink sometime?"

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha no joke he asked me 3 times because I was making it soooo awkward. I froze, I didn't know what to say! When in all reality, I should have just said "I don't drink, sorry." But no, (and don't judge me okay, I was under pressure and E was on the verge of peeing her pants - and my face was tomato red I know it!)

D: "Um.... Well.... I'm a student... and I'm not really looking to go out for drinks... and..... I have a boyfriend!"

[pause]...

Biker: "In America?"

D: "Yeah"

Biker: "Would he know?"

D: "Um.. Yeah"

and E chimes in -

E: "She'd probably tell him."

D: "Yeah..."

hahahahahahahahahahaha

[pause]...

Biker: "Can I at least leave you my number?"

D: "Um... No. Thank you so much for the kind offer!"

p-fffffffffffffffffffffffffffff!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guys I choked! And he was like 30+... I swear! hahaha we were dying!

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..............
I am sooooo awkward! I really got to work on that!!

Well, now that I have officially humiliated myself - E and I are off - to ride our bikes - in the windy Welsh weather - and bask in my humiliation.

Until next time!

still NO RAIN!! .....knock on wood.

Tuesday night here in Swansea and still NO RAIN!!

The Sara's couldn't be anymore delighted. Running in the morning is a bit more pleasant without the hurricane-like wind and rain. Unfortunately we still have the wind. We have decided that the wind comes from every direction because it seems no matter which way we run we are constantly running against the wind. However, to look on the bright side we remind ourselves that we are getting a better work out this way. ;)

This weekend we got the chance watch a rugby match at a local pub! D had to explain how rugby actually works to the non-sporty E. (she promises to come home from Wales as a Rugby fanatic). To make the story short we watched England cream Scotland.

We also got to make another journey out to our new favorite town, Mumbles. Our first stop was a cute little cafe called The Front Room Cafe. We decided to put together a little rating system for future travelers to the lovely Swansea. Our ratings are out of 5 stars (*)

The Front Room Cafe in Mumbles
(D would like the blogisphere to know that they have GLUTEN FREE BREAD!!)

Atmosphere: ***** (5/5)
Food: **** (4/5)
Service: ***** (5/5)
Coffee: ***** (5/5)
Tea(strawberry&raspberry): **** (4/5)

Overall: **** (4.5/5)

After the lovely veggie brekkie for E and Potato & Corn Chowder (dairy&gluten free) soup for D. The Sara's wandered the country side. After trudging through mud and climbing boulders on the beach we were amazed at the all of the AMAZING views we encountered. But don't let me bore you with descriptions. They say a picture speaks a thousand words & in this case it's more than true.

Our sunday night consisted of attempting to stay awake for the Superbowl. E made it to half-time and D made it until the black out. Hey! give us a break people it started at midnight here in Wales!

Well, Cheers Mates!
do we sound like the British yet?

a little message from the British (;

3 Days and No RAIN!

Well, actually it drizzled a little bit today; but from the few torrential downpours we've experienced in our short time here, the sunny skies have been the sweetest treat yet. In fact, the Sara's have actually been able to get out and explore a bit. Swansea is quite the place. So far, Mumbles is our favorite area; it is so quaint and welcoming! And did you know that Catherine Zeta Jone's still owns a house in the area? Well, she does. Here are a few pics from our ride out to area! We can't wait to go out there again.

Yes, E is still famous! Her name was on there twice.

That same day we took such an incredible walk to Sainsbury's (a United Kingdom "Kmart," since TESCO already filled the "Walmart" position).

Yes, it's a tractor... in the middle of Swansea's PCH!

We are always surprised at the familiar
places from home!
Don't worry Papa Drury, you can now come and visit! They have Frosties!

After a few days of classes, which unfortunately had to plant themselves right in the middle of our sunny day, we have made 2 friends, changed our schedules (so that we might actually learn something about Wales), and have visited the Dylan Thomas Center, an infamous poet from Swansea! So, as our days pass by, the Sara's are not only becoming more accustomed to living away from home, but they are making their stay worth while. So far, we would recommend a trip to Swansea to anyone who asked!

I found church! Now all I need
to know is what time???
